About the Finance Department

The Finance Department is managed by a full-time Finance Director who is responsible for directing and administering the Town’s municipal funds, accounting systems, accounting controls, purchasing controls, health benefits, payroll, pension, revenue controls, and preparation and monitoring of the municipal budget. The Finance Department also includes an Accounting Clerk who is responsible for processing town receipts and expenditures.

The Town Treasurer is a part-time position and is elected to a four-year term. The Treasurer is responsible for the organization and operation of all economic stabilization activities within the Town of Durham. An Assistant Treasurer acts as Treasurer in the Treasurer’s absence.
