History:

At a special  town meeting on March 15, 1965 voters heard the report of the Recreational Study Committee and voted to accept the report as presented.  However, they also went on the record as not being in favor of creating, by ordinance, a Recreational Commission.  On March 23, 1965, the Board of Selectmen decided to appoint five members to serve on the Recreational Committee.  The Board of Selectmen established the articles of authority for the Durham Recreational Committee in June of 1968, these articles were updated in 1980.
