Urgent Notice
Regarding Passport Applications
The National Passport Agency is receiving a greater volume of passport applications than expected. As a result the issuance of passports is taking much longer than expected:
Routine applications: 10 weeks
Expedited applications: 3-5 weeks
In order to prevent any further delay it is very important that all applicants have the proper documentation:
1.
Certified copies of birth certificates only
(not “Notice of Registration of Birth”) – make sure the raised seal is clear and legible; the Passport Agency needs to be able to identify the seal as a vital registrar’s seal NOT a notary seal.
2.
Under 14 years
of age, the LONG CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE SHOWING BOTH PARENTS NAMES.
3.
One check per application.
The Passport Processing Agencies are working diligently to complete all applications in a timely manner. Providing appropriate documentation will prevent further delay in the process.
