SUMMER PLAYGROUND 

The Durham Recreation Playground is open for all children living in Durham entering grades 1st - 7th.  Playground opens Monday June 23 and will end Friday August 15th.  Playground will meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:00am - noon at Allyn Brook Park.  Activities include Arts & Crafts, Sports, and Special Events.  Fun for all!                                                                                                              NO FEE

LITTLE PEOPLE PROGRAM

The Little People Program is open to ages 4 and 5 for children living in Durham.  Children must be age 4 by July 4th 2008.  The program opens June 23 and will end Friday August 15th.  The Little People Program has two sessions.  Session 1 will meet from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM.  Session 2 will meet from 10:30 AM - NOON.  Both sessions will meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's at Allyn Brook Park.  Activities are Arts & Crafts, Games, Hikes, Playground Play, and Special events.

NIGHT RECREATION YOUTH GROUP

This program is for youths entering grades 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th.  Youth night meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Strong School from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.  The dates for the program are:  July 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31. August 5, 7, 12, 14.   Activities include:  Table games, music, volleyball, basketball, and special events.  This is a great time to get out of the heat and keep in touch with your friends over the summer.  Great Staff!                                      FEE $25.00

                                                                                                    JUNIOR COUNSELOR PROGRAM

This program is for students going into grade 8 to age 15, living in Durham.  Students will volunteer in our Summer Program Schedule participating  with children and staff.  Students will be asked to help out in game playing, arts & crafts, and with the organization of fun activities.  This is also a great opportunity for students to receive their community service. They must sign in at their activitey and will be supervised by Head Staff and Directors.  Registration is required for this program.               NO FEE

Director:  Coach Todd Salva is a Physical Education teacher in Regional District 13 and is in 17 season as head coach for the Coginchaug Blue Devils.

Clinic Goal:  Students will be taught shooting, ball handling, passing and rebounding skills, as well as the basic concepts to team offense and defense.  It is a skills clinic with individual instruction, games and contests.  The clinic is held at Coginchaug High School and is open to all Durham and Middlefield residents.  Team shirts and water bottles will be provided.  FEE $75.00        REGISTRATION FORM

                                                                                           GIRLS BLUE HOOP CLINIC

SESSION 1  JULY 7 - 11   Grades entering 1 - 3   TIME:  9:00 AM - 11:30 AM   SESSION 2  Grades entering 4 - 6  TIME:  12:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Director:  Coach John Forline has coached basketball for the past 30 years at the J.V. or Varsity level.  He is currently the boys J.V. coach at Coginchaug High School.  John is also the Art teacher at Memorial School.

Director:  Coach Brendan Lynch has coached basketball for the ten years at the AAU, Middle School, and High School levels.  He is a former manager for the University of Connecticut men's basketball team and was a member of the 1999 National Championship team.  Coach Lynch is a  teacher at Memorial School.

Clinic Goal:  The clinic will focus on offensive development.  This will include ball handling, shooting, footwork, and other key fundamentals of the game.  There will be games each day as well as break down drills and contests.  FEE $75.00      REGISTRATION FORM

                                                                           GIRLS 2 DAY BLUE DEVIL SKILLS CLINIC

6/30 - 7/1     TIME:   12:00 - 3:00 PM    EXCLUSLVELY FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES 7, 8, & 9  AT COGINCHAUG HIGH SCHOOL

                                                                          Directors:  Coach John Forline, and Brendan Lynch

This clinic will focus on the basketball skills necessary for competitive success.  Players will practice these skills and encorporate them into 1-on-1, 2-on-2, and 3-on-3 tournament play.  Players will be evaluated and grouped accordingly.  FEE $ 40.00   

                                                                    OFFENSIVE FUNDAMENTAL BASKETBALL CLINIC

JULY 28 -AUGUST 1 For boys & girls grades 4 - 12.   There will be 2 Sessions available:  9:00AM - 11:30AM BOYS SESSION &  12:00PM - 2:30PM GIRLS SESSION.  Limited number of campers are allowed in each session.  Shooting will be filmed and evaluated.  There will be one coach per 6 players.  Basketball program is held at Coginchaug High School  Director Russell Hill.  Cosponsor The Durham Basketball Travel Club.

                                                                                      DEVIL TRACK & FIELD CLINIC

                JUNE 23 - 27  5:00PM - 8:00PM      For boys & girls grade 3 - 9      HELD AT THE COGINCHAUG TRACK

This clinic will introduce Track & Field to children of Durham and Middlefield and have fun doing it.  Each day will finish with a special event.  Monday : water melon, Tuesday:  pizza, Wednesday: strawberry shortcake. Thursday:  ice cream.  Friday will end with a track meet and a cookout for all.  All students will learn running, sprinting, hurdling and throwing skills.  All participants will receive at track tee-shirt.  This program is one of our best!  It promotes fitness and health.  There are no ribbons or medals awarded in this program.  We have a great staff and we all have a great time!

                                                                                              SUMMER FUN RUNS

      DATES:    TUESDAY'S JULY 1, 8, 15, 22, 29.  AUGUST 5, 12, 19.    TIME:  6:00PM       PLACE:  COGINCHAUG TRACK

All ages are invited to come and run.  We have many distance and short runs for all ages.  The running events range form a 2 mile run for high school and adults, to many other distances for small children.  Ribbons are awarded to all who participate in the program.  Adults and children register the night of the Fun Runs.  Director John Hastings (349-1863)    CO-SPONSOR Torrinson Stone                          NO FEE

                                                                                BLUE DEVIL VOLLEYBALL CLINIC

    JULY 21 - 25         AT COGINCHAUG HIGH SCHOOL        TIME:   9:00 AM - 11:30 AM         DIRECTOR ANN MOSCORICS

For palyers entering grades 6, 7, 8, and 9th.  The clinic will focus on all facets of volleyball play.  Coach Moscorics prepared an in depth series of defensive skills and drills.  All players will learn the finer points of spiking, setting, passing and serving.  The Blue Devil Volleyball clinic will also develop the individual player's overall athleticism as well.  Coach Ann Moscorics brings an extensive background as a player and a coach to the clinic.  Coach Moscorics curently coaches girl's volleyball at Coginchaug High School.  Her coaching resume includes one years as Head Men's Volleyball coach at Sacred Heart University.  Coach Moscorics also coached at Emmett O'Brein High School and at Amity Regional High School.  While playing at Amity, she earned two selections to the Class LL All-State volleyball Team.  Coach Moscorics who is also in the Amity High School Hall of Fame, powered two Amity teams to Class LL State Titles.                      FEE:  $60.00     REGISTRATION FORM

                                                                              WOMEN'S FUN SOFTBALL LEAGUE

For Durham and Middlefield Residents.  The games will be played in Durham on the girls Varsity and J.V. softball fields.  Games will start July 9th and will be played on Wednesday evenings in the months of July and August.  This program is for women who want to have fun playing the game of softball with their friends.                                                    FEE $30.00     REGISTRATION FORM

                                                                                 SHORIN RYE (SELF DEFENSE)

A self defense course will be held at Allyn Brook Park.  Classes will be held Monday and Thursday evenings.  Time:  6:30PM - 7:30PM.  This program is for grades 2-8.  Program will start July 7th.  Call Toby Bates 349-3075 to register.  FEE:  $25.00
